Fabulous Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Wirework Bread Basket, Circa 1825

Description

This superb Georgian wirework Old Sheffield plate bread basket dates circa 1825. Wirework baskets are rather scarce and this is a lovely example. The lower section with lobed sides , the upper section with an elegant wirework frame within a shell interspersed gadroon border. Fitted with a beautiful rope-twist swing handle.

Condition:

Wirework in very good condition.

a little copper showing at places on some of the wirework, adding to the patina.

Dimensions:

Length: 24cm / 9.4 inches.

Height including handle: 21cm / 8.2 inches.

Width at widest: 18cm / 7.3 inches.
