Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Snuff Box 1852

Description

This is a super antique Victorian hallmarked sterling silver snuff box measuring 3 1/2" (9 cms) x 2 1/4" (6 cms) x 1" (2.5 cms).

It opens and closes perfectly with a good strong hinge and the interior is in very good condition and gilded inside.

The inscription on the lid reads:

'Presented by a few Sewed Muslin Manufacturers to Mr Rob Melville as a token of their appreciation of his kindly and assiduous attention to his duties, Glasgow, April 1866'.

It's hallmarked for Birmingham 1852 with the silversmiths mark for Hilliard & Thomason.

It weighs 138.6 grams/4.4 troy oz and the whole item is in excellent condition.

This lovely snuff box will come in a gift box with a certificate of authenticity.
