Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The front of the case is enamelled in red with a George Washington 2 cents stamp and black cancellation mark applied over dated 6. 91 6pm New York (1891). It is also beautifully engraved 'H. H. Muller, Cincinnati, Ohio'. The reverse of the case is also enamelled with a received mark 'PO 6.1.91 Recd'

The interior of the lid is silver gilt and bears the mark 'June 24 90 STERLING'.
A wonderful stamp case for a Collector - The condition is very good (there are some tiny surface indentations commensurate with the age of this item and are mentioned for accuracy only - see images for verification).
