Superb Silver Gilt George III Vinaigrette

A superb, silver gilt, George III Vinaigrette, fully hallmarked on the inside under the grill, for the London Assay Office with a date mark of 1809 and silver maker's mark: Daniel Hockley, with partial marks underneath the lid. This stunning Vinaigrette is beautifully and unusually designed with a lovely engine turned pattern to the front back and sides. This enhances the overall appearance as the gilt intensifies the wonderful pattern. Inside the vinaigrette has also been gilded. The pierced grill is particularly attractive (see images). The hinge to the grill works well and although the lid does not 'click' to close it closes perfectly.

 

This is a beautiful item - ideal for a collector of vinaigrettes, lovely and rare in silver gilt and particularly attractive due to pattern design and grill.

 

Condition: In great antique collector's condition.
