This is an Edwardian Art Nouveau hallmarked sterling silver photograph frame. It was assayed in Chester in 1909, and was made by J & R Griffin (Joseph & Richard Griffin). The frame is repoussage decorated with a vacant cartouche and stylised irises with a beaded edge.
The interior of the frame is 19.8cm high by 14.8cm wide, fitting an 8 by 6 inch photograph.
The silver frame does have a number of dents, particularly to the beaded edges and raised areas such as the cartouche at the top and the flowers. There is a small piece of silver missing to the top left corner. The back of the frame is quite worn and faded, with the easel stand having been replaced.
