Description

Well, he's charming! A solid sterling silver novelty snuff box, wonderfully shaped as a cockerel.

He has import hallmarks for London 1890, the importer being Edward Thurkle. There are Dutch hallmarks on the base. The body is beautifully moulded with bright cut 'feathers' on the neck and trunk The plummage of the tail is heavy and perhaps a little misshapen. The pull off base fits well and he stands squarely on his rear foot. Although the photographs don't show them well, he has red glass eyes.
