Description

A fine pair of solid sterling silver sauce tureens, dating from the reign of George III.

They are clearly hallmarked on the bottom of the base for London 1796, with the maker's mark of Henry Chawner and John Eames. These Neoclassical sauce tureens have oval boat-shaped bodies, with squared side-handles and original domed lids with urn-shaped finials, all sitting on pedestal feet with rectangular bases. Both the lids and bodies carry a family crest. The lids have an insert for sauce ladles.

The silver is in excellent condition, with surface scratches only reflecting their great age.
