The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
These Neoclassical sauce tureens have oval boat-shaped bodies, with squared side-handles and original domed lids with urn-shaped finials, all sitting on pedestal feet with rectangular bases. Both the lids and bodies carry a family crest. The lids have an insert for sauce ladles.

The silver is in excellent condition, with surface scratches only reflecting their great age.
