Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Christening Mug 1866

Description

This is a superb antique mid-Victorian hallmarked sterling silver christening mug/tankard measuring 5 3/4? (14.5 cms) tall to the top of the handle x 4 3/4? (12 cms) across the including the handle x 3 1/4" (8 cms).

It’s hallmarked for London 1866 with the silversmiths mark for John Batson.

The whole mug is in excellent condition with a lovely bold decoration of a mother and child angel on either side and a blank cartouche at the front.

It weighs 204. grams which gives you an idea of the quality.
