Description

A top notch antique English biscuit barrel, the fine quality to be expected from such a highly prized silversmith such as Elkington & Company.

The box stands on four lion's paw and claw feet supporting the integral pierced or reticulated tray. The engraved decoration is quite superb, beautifully executed with a large vacant cartouche to the top of the domed lid and another large cartouche to the front; perfect for an engraving my your silversmith if desired.

The underside is marked clearly Elkington & Co. and dates to around 1860. Superb condition measuring 6 1/2" tall with the tray diameter measuring 7 1/4".
