Antique English Silver Plate Wine / Champagne Bottle Holder - Ram's Head Handles

Description

A stunning and rarely seen bottle holder with highly sought-after detail, a welcome departure from the plainer examples.

Dating to around 1880 / 1890, Victorian in era there is some beautiful engraving with garlands running around tied with ribbon and bows, the base too has some attractive engraved detailing.

Each side has a handsome Ram's head with a ring handle from his mouth, again some superb detailing to the handle and engraving surrounding it.

The base is clearly marked for the silversmith, Maxfield and Sons of Sheffield and is also marked "Waring Plate".

Excellent condition, usual insignificant wear to the interior; the plate is superb and without loss. Measures 7" tall with a rim diameter measuring 4 1/4".
