Description
Three large 19th century silver plated basting spoons, in the fiddle and thread pattern. The large bowls sweeping to butress shoulders, joining the long shanks decorated with double 'thread' reeding. The shanks spreading to the broadening and curved handles, finished to the underside with likewise reeded edges, and a bowed terminal. Hallmarked for Joseph Mappin & Brothers, with their star mark, and Elkington & Co, Birmingham and their crown mark. Height 1 3/4 inches, 4cm. Length 13 inches, 33cm. Depth 2 1/4 inches, 6cm. Date circa 1860. Dealers in fine antiques from the 18th century onwards, supplying both the trade and private customers worldwide. Shop currently open by appointment.
