Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The lid is hinged and when opened, the gilded interior of the lid is visible and there is a loop at the side for attachment.

Hallmarks are clearly visible on the inside lip of the Vesta case for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1921 and maker's marks : William Neale. The Lion Passant is also visible indicating the finest sterling silver. There are also partial hallmarks on the inside of the lid.

This Vesta is in fabulous condition. It feels wonderful to hold in the hand is good and solid, a heavy gauge of silver.
