Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Shahsevan kilim is a flatweave textile hand-crafted by the Shahsevan nomadic tribe, historically inhabiting regions across northwestern Iran and Azerbaijan. These long, narrow runners were woven primarily for practical use inside tents and long living spaces, featuring symbolic geometric iconography.

Traditional Shahsevan flatweaves are constructed using hand-spun wool for both warp and weft yarns, sometimes incorporating cotton highlights. The fibers were historically coloured using natural vegetable dyes derived from madder root, indigo, walnut husks, and local flora.

Authentic pieces exhibit slit-weave flatweave construction, subtle natural dye variations known as abrash, and distinct tribal iconography such as diamond medallions and stylized animal forms. Inspecting the reverse side reveals clean structural weaving without artificial backing or uniform machine stitching.

Long kilim runners are frequently placed in entry hallways, long corridors, or narrow galleys to add warmth, geometric structure, and visual depth. Their flat profile makes them practical near doorways while their saturated tones bridge modern minimal and traditional interiors.

Vacuum gently using a suction-only attachment without a rotary brush to protect the hand-spun wool fibers. Place a high-quality rug underlay beneath the runner to prevent slipping and reduce friction wear, and consult a professional rug restorer for deep cleaning.
