Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
Fitted with a circular column threaded through, enables the tongs to move up and down in order to grip the asparagus and serve with ease. Inside the handles are the very clear and distinctive hallmarks for the Sheffield Assay office with a date mark for 1906, along with the Lion Passant indicating fine sterling silver and the silver maker's mark for Atkin Brothers.

A lovely heavy gauge silver, these tongs are lovely and solid and feel great to hold in the hand. They would grace any dining setting beautifully!
