Description

A delightful George III solid silver patch box of circular plain form. The lid engraved with contemporary initials, MM. The lid and base both marked SM for Samuel Meriton II. There is no assay office or date letter, however Samuel Meriton II was active between circa 1775 and 1795. We would date this patch box to be circa 1780/90. A small yet beautifully simple object on wonderful condition.
