Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco dressing tables from the 1930s feature geometric balance, sweeping curves, and large integral circular or arched mirrors. British designers of this era emphasised functional luxury using light-coloured timber veneers such as sycamore, maple, and walnut, trimmed with contrasting details.

Pieces from this period were predominantly constructed using hardwood frames laid with fine decorative veneers, including sycamore, satinwood, and walnut. Mirrors were made from silvered glass, while drawer pulls utilised early plastics like bakelite, turned wood, or polished metals.

Authentic period pieces exhibit traditional cabinetmaking techniques such as hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber drawer linings, and original silvered mirror glass showing minor age spots. Many designer pieces also bear maker marks, paper labels, or stamped metal plaques inside drawers.

Position the piece as a focal point against a neutral or rich jewel-toned wall to highlight its structural silhouette. Pair it with a low-profile upholstered stool, minimal brass or chrome lighting, and subtle decorative glass accessories to complement the warm wood tones.

Dust the surface regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly following the grain. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and high humidity to prevent veneer lifting or timber shrinkage.
