An interesting and elaborate pair of late 19th Century Renaissance style military inspired, amorial, trophy of arms gilt bronze candlesticks. Constructed around a central lance they comprise of victor's laurels, spears, shields with military motifs, axes, swords, maces and rarely found ball and chain maces. The well cast candle cups are also adorned with military motifs. Unusual and fascinating. French, circa 1890.
