Fine Silver Double Sovereign Case Birmingham 1912

A superior solid silver double Sovereign Case of the finest quality. The lozenge shaped case is a lovely plain polished silver with no engraving or embossing to the exterior. It has a spring loaded hinged lid, opened by a push button, and has a loop to one side for attachment. When the lid is open two sovereign compartments are visible where partial hallmarks on both of the compartment rims are clear and crisp, with a fabulous neat engine turned pattern engraved to the centre pieces (see images). Hallmarks to the underneath of the lid are also visible for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1912 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver along with the maker's mark: Aaron Lufkin Dennison

   

The superb craftmanship of the silver maker is very evident. The case is in lovely antique collector's condition. It opens and closes perfectly. (There is some slight surface scratching to the case commensurate with age and mentioned for accuracy only),
