Antique Metalware 17thc Brass Single Candlestick On Square Base. C1650

A very good example of a mid 17thc Brass single candlestick, it has a deep sconce and interestingly no lateral aperture for ejecting the candle....the stem is a graduating chamfer of eight ''flattened'' sides and it stands on a substantial square base with a central slightly raised platform....it is attached to the base by a screw thread and it turns up well showing attractive ''lathe chatter'' to the underneath which is so pleasing to see.
