Description

Dating to the late Victorian era, around 1890, this Victorian silver plated biscuit box is quite the gem.

The silver plated cannister and lid are covered with intricate engraved bouquets of Ferns, so Victorian and so English, as popular today as 120 years ago. Each Fern bouquet is tied with a ribbon and bow. The box stands on an integral tray which in turn sits on its original three ball feet.

The underside bears the makers mark J D & S for the famous English silversmith, James Dixon & Sons and EP for Electro-Plated.

The lid is hinged and opens to reveal a good clean interior ready to use.

Superb condition, this showy piece stands 6 1/4" tall with the tray diameter measuring 7 1/2" and the lid diameter measuring 6".
