Antique Persian Village Rug with Repeating Botehs, 2.20m X 1.30m

Description

Woven in the Kurdish enclave around the town of Bidjar in the late 19th century, this rug has a charming repeat pattern of 'botehs', a design that originated in early Indian textiles , travelled to Persia and became a popular motif in both textiles and rug weaving. This rug has an unusual white field which gives the botehs a three-dimensional sense. I also like the pretty sapphire border. The rug has a typical solid Bidjar structure, but the design has a subtlety which gives the rug a special quality. Handspun wool and natural dyes. professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
