TJR Trading has dated this piece to the 1870s.

The lid has engraved scrolling foliate motifs. It bears a monogram to the top. The lid is quite badly dented. It is too loose to screw properly onto the glass body any more.
The glass body is of typical form with faceted shoulders.

The detachable silver cup base has a gilded interior. The exterior is engraved allover with scrolling foliate motifs typical of this period. There is an engraved heraldic symbol to the centre.
Other than the mentioned faults it is is in good order, with wear commensurate with age.
The detachable silver cup weighs 34g / 1.12 ozt.
