Asprey & Co Silver Three Piece Tea Set

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a George V hallmarked sterling silver three piece tea set. It was assayed in Chester in 1921, made and retailed by Asprey & Co Ltd. It conprises a teapot, a sugar bowl and a milk jug.

The teapot has a fruitwood handle and finial. It has an egg and dart border and is raised on a circular footed base. It is hallmarked to the side, and to the interior of the lid. It is marked 'Asprey London' to the underside.

The teapot has a pin missing from the lower part of the handle where it joins the body. There are some small dents to the body and the lid, the largest measuring 5mm in diameter.

The sugar bow and milk jug have gadrooned borders and are raised on circular footed bases. The sugar bowl has a pair of scrolling handles, whereas the milk jug has one. The sugar bowl has a dent on the makers hallmark measuring 1.5cm in diameter, and some smaller dents. Otherwise they are in good order with wear commensurate with age.

The gross weight of the three piece tea set is 707g / 22.7 ozt.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
