Description
Gorgeous romantic teardrop or pear-shaped paste earrings dating from the 19th century. The white stones are desirable "black dot" pastes, foil-backed for extra sparkle; the Georgians would paint a black dot on the bottom end of paste stones (the culet) to help give an illusion of depth and make them look more like real diamonds by the glow of candlelight. The wires are solid nine-carat rose gold, the pastes are set into silver, with some rolled gold. In very good antique condition. No chips or cracks to the paste, just one or two tiny surface pits visible under magnification. The rolled gold surfaces show wear, as you would expect after a couple of centuries! Size: 4cm total drop. The paste-set section measures 1.4 x 3.2cm. Weight: 7.1g. UK DELIVERY: Free! All items to UK addresses are shipped via Royal Mail Special Delivery. DELIVERY OUTSIDE THE UK: Free for purchases over £125. For purchases below £125, shipping to addresses outside the UK costs £10. All international deliveries are sent via Royal Mail's Tracked and Signed service, where available.
