S & A Marsh has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
They have some slight knife scratches on each of the bodies which is in keeping with them actually being used and these plates would look impressive displayed on the table.

The crest on each of the dinner plates is that of William Lowther, Ist Earl of Lonsdale (1757-1844). He was created earl of Lonsdale and Knight of the Garter in 1807.
They were hallmarked in London for 1769 by Thomas Heming and they weigh 139.00 troy ounces (4323 grams). They are in excellent condition.
