Floral Engraved Edwardian Silver Vesta Case

1900 - 1920
Description

A charming solid silver vesta case, nicely engraved to the front and back with various very attractive floral patterns and neat columns. In one corner of the front is an empty cartouch (see images). Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly and there is a good fastening loop on one side. The case has clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip of the Vesta for Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1906 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark: S&A

 

A pretty Vesta with unusual engraving in lovely antique condition.

 

Hallmarks: Birmingham 1906

 

Measurements: Height: 5.1 cm approx Width: 4.0 cm approx.
