If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seat in a fabric of your choice, for an additional £40. The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The seat is flanked by splayed arms, connected to the low back. The back and arms boast satinwood string inlay, with the back also featuring a cross banded centre. The arms are a useful feature of this stool, as it enables you to comfortably adjust the position of the stool, whilst sitting on it.

Below, the box frame is decorated with further satinwood string inlay and cross banding. The stool is raised on string inlaid tapering legs, terminating on spade feet. The hinged seat lifts open to reveal an internal storage compartment; ideal for the storage of sheet music, if the item is used as a piano stool. The seat lid will remain open until you close the original solid brass-folding stay on the right-hand side. The compartment roof retains the original mahogany panel to the inside of the lid, as well as the original mahogany base.

Condition Report:
This antique stool is in excellent condition. The seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality patterned structured chenille upholstery, with matching braiding. The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The upholstery is therefore new, clean and free from any wear, dirt or damage. The mahogany frame has been French polished to a professional standard. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The internal compartment is completely original with the original working brass stay. Importantly, there are no breaks to the legs or frame. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
