Rare Edwardian Silver and 9ct Gold Vesta Case

A truly splendid and superior Vesta case, made from sterling silver with a stunning 9ct gold overlay; this a most unusual Vesta Case.

The case is a lovely rectangular shape with nice square corners and with the most attractive engraving to the silver across one half and the most beautifully engraved 9ct rose gold overlay to the other half. This Vesta is stunning; the crafmanship of the silversmith is most apparent

Hinged on one side the Vesta opens and closes perfectly and reveals the hallmarks on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay office with date mark for 1904 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, the maker's mark is for the silversmith Smith & Bartlam. the gold overlay is also marked 9.375 (9ct gold).

  

  

This is a fabulous and unusual Vesta Case. It is superbly made and aesthetically pleasing on the eye. It is a good heavy gauge silver and feels lovely when held in the hand. The colour of the rose gold is lovely!
