Art Nouveau Silver Ring Box Goldsmiths & Silversmiths

What must only be described as a fabulous art nouveau silver ring box. This Edwardian, rectangular box is superb; It has a plain polished silver body and the lid is embossed with a wonderful art nouveau design, featuring lovely iris plants , inspired by the natural world, the embossing is beautifully executed (see images) and the ability of the silversmith is most apparent.

The inside of the lid has a pale lemon gilt finish. The inside has a purple velvet pad with 4 compartments for rings. Underneath the lid along the lip on one side of the box are the very clear hallmarks for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1908 along with the Maker's mark for the renowned silversmiths: Goldsmiths & Silversmiths.

The hinged lid opens and closes perfectly.

The box feels lovely and solid and sturdy.

Hallmarks: London 1908 by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths.
