Tom Scott Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
I have cleaned them to a point, but I thought they actually look very decorative like this, although if you wanted to, you could continue to clean them back to their original finish.

They are mounted on black painted round plinths which are also distressed.
These are a large pair, so if you were to use them as lamps, or perhaps even remove the bulb fittings and have them as a pair of decorative spelter figures, they would need a good size sideboard or console table.

They have both been rewired and are ready to use.
Please do look at the photos and see the tarnishing. Priced as the pair and not including the shade.
Measuring:
26'' or 66cm to the shade cradle
9'' or 23cm diameter bases.
