Puckerings has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The border of the lid is made with a solid cast reticulated or pierced mount, pretty as a picture.

The lid opens to reveal the underside having been lavishly gilded and the box lined in a vibrant emerald coloured silk and velvet.
The box is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1906, Edwardian in era. The makers initials are also present for the well renowned English silversmith, Henry Matthews.
The box remains in excellent condition measuring 3 3/4" x 2 5/8" x 1 3/4" tall.
