The inside under the seat has two compartments & a metal stay to hold it up. The seat is upholstered in a pale blue velvet type fabric, which is still in good condition, so we didn’t recover it this time & to recover would cost much more than £50. This stool is in excellent condition, structurally sound & date to around the 1890’s period.
