The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
There are hallmarks on the hoop holding the chain to the key handle - they are very small and worn. I date this to the 19th Century based on others currently on the market.
The decoration on the key is pretty, with a heart on the base. The sides hold together well and the chain is well-attached. An unusual, tactile and useful piece of silver.
