Description

A fabulous star sapphire with a good star set with an estimated 0.8cts of old cut diamonds and a blue star sapphire estimated to be about 5cts. The stone is a natural star sapphire and shows a good 'asterism' which is the gemmological term for the star pattern which is seen on this type of sapphire when polished correctly. This is an early 20th century one with transitional diamonds of good cut and colour and the ring has been polished and is ready for another 100 years wear. The nature of the stone is quite rough and the edges are testimont to this, the cut is native and wobbly. Cut outside the mine in Ceylon on a wheel.
