A Superb Pair of Victorian Silver Claret Jugs by Mappin & Webb

Description

A superb pair of claret jugs by Mappin & Webb. One solid silver, the other triple deposit princes plate.

A wonderful design, each with highly detailed leaf handles and foliate decoration to the silver band and lid. The glass of each with wonderful etched decoration, featuring stars. The silver example is fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1898 and the princes plate example dates from a similar time.

Both in excellent condition throughout, rare to find one solid silver and one plated; a great conversation/game at dinner parties, guessing which one is silver!
