Description

A wonderfully decorative, Victorian, solid silver Vesta case. The case is embellished with the very finest repousse work which unusally, stretches over three corners of the vesta with the forth corner decorated with undulating waves (see images). Attention to the smallest detail is evident. The hinged lid opens nicely to reveal the hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1894 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. Maker's marks are also visible for Minshull & Latimer.

This is a stunning and unusual Vesta. The quality of the silversmith's work is apparent!
