Description

A very grand and highly decorative sterling silver compote made by the top notch English silversmith Walker & Hall of Sheffield.

The footed bowl has the most stunning pierced or reticulated work with a scalloped edge with floral and foliate repousse work, again pierced to create a beautiful rim.

There is a good clear hallmark for Sheffield 1905, making this a true Edwardian example. Recently purchased at a local house sale, well looked after for the last 105 years and remaining in superb condition weighing 395 grams, just under 13 troy ounces.

Measurements: 10 1/4" across top x standing 4 1/2" tall. Quite splendid!
