Antique Engraved Mother of Pearl and Sterling Silver Card Case - Pristine antiques : Accessories

Description

Take a closer look at the front panel of this superb card case and enjoy the delicate decorative engraving of a foliate scene with two pretty butterflies.

Both the front and back panels are slightly domed or convex, with the front panel having a central sterling silver lozenge, decorated and incorporating a tiny set of initials in the centre, I think EG.

The push button to the front is working perfectly as are the original hinges. The interior is a joy with a navy blue taffeta lining with the edges of the concertina compartments trimmed in gold.

Dating to around 1860 it remains in superb original condition, measuring 4 1/4" x 3".
