Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
Hinged to one side the Vesta opens and closes perfectly. When open clear hallmarks are visible on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1903 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker's mark is also very clear for the silvermaker: Joseph Gloster.

There is a good fastening loop to one side.
A lovely Vesta, unusual shape and engraving and in great antique collector's condition.
