Description

This is a most interesting and unusual antique shell encrusted lamp in the form of a pretty country church. The church is very well detailed in construction with large gothic windows and door which still have the remnants of their original coloured paper, used to simulate stained glass. The gothic windows to the tower are in the form of angels and the remnants of the papered clock face are at the very top beneath the spire. The folk art piece is constructed from thousands of tiny conch shape shells to the roof and hundreds of cowrie type shells to the body of the church the vast majority being intact. This is a very rare and most charming piece all the more characterful when lit.

The church measures 42 cms high 42 cms long by 21 cms deep.
