Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Hinged on one side the Vesta opens and closes perfectly and when opened reveals a lovely gilt finish to the interior. The hallmarks can also be seen on the lip under the lid for the Chester Assay Office with a date mark for 1895 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, along with the silvermaker's mark for William Neale.
