Description

A beautifully engraved solid silver Vesta case. Unusual size, this vesta case is petite and measures 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm. The decoration is a lovely swirling pattern to both the front and the back with a circular empty cartouch in the centre on the front of the case. Hinged on one side the Vesta opens and closes perfectly and when opened reveals a lovely gilt finish to the interior. The hallmarks can also be seen on the lip under the lid for the Chester Assay Office with a date mark for 1895 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, along with the silvermaker's mark for William Neale.
