Description:
Here is a fine quality antique French Louis XVI style beech painted duet stool, circa 1930, which has been newly upholstered, and is now in excellent condition. The stool features a taupe colour distressed paint finish. The signs of use and wear to the paint finish lend the item a shabby-chic distressed aesthetic. It has been newly upholstered in top quality taupe colour structured cotton material. The stool features a removable swab cushion, which creates a firm seat; this means that you won’t sink into the seat, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The swab cushion incorporates a zip on the back; therefore, the cushion can be removed for cleaning. Beneath the cushion, the stool has been finished with two caned panels. The stool boasts profuse foliate carvings to the entire frame. The stool features turned arms raised on turned supports, attached to the seat frame. The seat frame boasts a spiral carved frieze. The stool stands on six fine turned & carved reeded tapering legs, topped with pretty floral carved cartouches.

Condition Report:
This stool is in excellent condition. The swab cushion has been newly upholstered in top quality taupe colour structured cotton material. The seat is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the seat, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The base of the stool has been finished with traditional caning. The upholstery is therefore new, clean and free from any wear, dirt or damage. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the beech frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The stool has been painted with a distressed finished, therefore the paint show signs of use and wear, lending a shabby-chic aesthetic. Importantly, there are no breaks to the legs or arms. The cane work to the seat base is also complete and free from damage. This item is solid in joint, stands firm on the ground and is ready to use.
