Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1950s.
When opened a gilded interior is revealed with an original elastic band for holding in the cigarettes. The clear and crisp hallmarks are visible on the inside of the lid for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1946 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The silvermaker's mark is also visible: Frederick Field.

A good solid case in heavy gauge silver and in great antique condition (There are some superficial scratches to the outside surface of the case commensurate with the age of the item which we mention for accuracy only.)
