Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
There is a large fastening loop for attachment at the top. Hallmarks for the London Assay Office are clearly visible with a date mark for 1883 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker's mark for the esteemed and very collectable maker is also visible: Sampson Mordan & Co.

Condition: In great antique condition - opens and closes well. The cartouch has some slight surface scratching (looks like there may have been some engraving removed).
