Description

A beautiful and very practical Victorian silver plated wine coaster with integral carrying handle. The coaster itself is attractively decorated with pierced or reticulated work and a floral and foliate border to the top.

Either side there is a large cartouche which could be engraved if desired for a special occasion. The tray to the base has a trough all the way around to rest the cork once the wine is opened.

The underside is clearly marked L & W S for LEE & HENRY WIGFULL of Sheffield and is dates to pre 1899 before it became a limited company ... the piece dates to around 1880. The mark EP is also present for Electro-Plated.

Excellent condition with a base diameter measuring 6 1/4"; the coaster with a diameter measuring 4 1/4" and to the top of the handle measures 13" tall.
