Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.

The silver bezel can be removed to access the watch. I was lucky enough to find this inkwell intact with it's original Swiss made sterling silver pocket watch ... marked inside the watch with the Bear and 925, this mark used between 1882 and 1934 so fits perfectly date-wise.

The English sterling silver lid is marked in various places for Birmingham 1905; the silver collar is also lucky enough to have the English registration number 476070 which is for the year 1906.
The watch has been working on my desk without a problem for the last week when I purchased the piece. The face is wonderful, really crisp and clear with black numerals on white enamel; there is a chip to the edge of the enamel only visible when the watch front is opened (but mentioned for accuracy).
A superb desk accessory for the discerning in excellent condition. The base of the glass measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 2 3/4".
