English Sterling Silver and Tortoise Shell Jewelry / Ring Box - Silver Pique Inlay

Description

A stunning English solid or sterling silver trinket box, a most unusual and pretty shape standing on four exceptional decorative legs.

The lid has a heavy cast border and the centre is inset with a stunning piece of antique tortoiseshell with superb colourings from golden champagne to rich chocolate brown. The shell is inlaid with very pretty silver pique inlay.

The hinged lid lifts to reveal a gorgeous deep red silk lining.

Excellent condition, measuring 3" x 3" x 2 1/4" tall. The silver is hallmarked for Birmingham 1904, a good Edwardian example. The makers mark is also present, A & B.
