Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian Rococo mahogany rectangular duet stool, constructed in the late Victorian period, circa 1890, which has been newly upholstered and is in excellent condition.
The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The seat is flanked by shaped supports that secure turned arms. With a decorative serpentine moulded shaped frieze, the duet stool is raised on fine cabriole legs, decorated with acanthus carvings to the knees. The hinged seat lifts open to reveal an internal storage compartment; ideal for the storage of sheet music, if the item is used as a piano stool. The seat lid will remain open until you close the original solid brass-folding stain on the right-hand side. The compartment roof retains the original mahogany panels to the inside of the lid, as well as the original mahogany base.

This stool features a rich dark brown mahogany finish. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the bedroom to living room. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

Condition Report:
This stool is in excellent condition. It has been newly upholstered in top quality Jim Dickens Arundel Russett upholstery, finished with matching braiding. The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The upholstery is therefore new, clean and free from any wear, dirt or damage. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The internal compartment is completely original with the original working brass stays. Importantly, there are no breaks to the legs or frame.
