Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Shirvan kilims originated in the eastern Caucasus region during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Woven by nomadic and village weavers, these tapestry-woven carpets were crafted for practical domestic use and floor coverings, defined by distinct geometric motifs and linear banding.

Shirvan kilims are traditionally hand-woven using hand-spun wool for both the warp and weft. They utilise a flat-weave slit-weaving technique, where colour changes create small vertical slits along pattern boundaries, producing a pileless surface with clean geometric definition.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature natural, plant-based dyes that soften evenly over time, hand-spun wool displaying subtle thickness variations, and flat slit-weave construction. Slight irregularities in symmetry and pattern spacing indicate traditional handloom production rather than machine manufacture.

A banded flatweave kilim serves as a foundational anchor on natural wood, stone, or neutral carpeted floors. The bold geometric patterns and earth-toned dyes complement contemporary minimalism, rustic wooden furniture, and mid-century modern aesthetic schemes.

Vacuum gently using a suction-only attachment without a rotary brush to protect the flat-woven fibers. Position a quality rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and wear, rotate periodically to ensure even light exposure, and rely on professional rug cleaners for spot treatment.
