A wonderfully decorative, Victorian, solid silver Vesta case. The case is decorated with the very finest repousse work featuring scrolls and flowers, where attention to the smallest detail is evident. The lid opens nicely to reveal the hallmarks for the Chester Assay Office with a date mark for 1886 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. Maker's marks are also visible for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings Shepherd.

This is a stunning and unusual Vesta. The quality of the silversmith's work is apparent!
